Importancia de la vacunación dentro del manejo integrado de Rhipicephalus microplus en bovinos

Importance of vaccination within the integrated management of Rhipicephalus microplus in cattle

Resumen

El complejo Rhipicephalus microplus es el más prevalente y mejor adaptado tanto en zonas tropicales como subtropicales, siendo el más importante ectoparásito dentro de los sistemas de producción bovina del mundo. Es imperante anudar esfuerzos técnico-científicos para generar planes de manejo integrado de este parásito, reduciendo de forma estratégica el uso de acaricidas convencionales para su control, evitando así las formas multi-resistentes y alteraciones evidentes de inocuidad en productos y subproductos de origen bovino, además de los impactos deletéreos ambientales. La vacunación como herramienta de control relevante en los planes de manejo integrados para R. microplus está disponible comercialmente en Colombia, como en otros países del continente americano. Gavac™ en Cuba, Bovimune Ixovac® en México y Go-Tick® en Colombia son biológicos tangibles y ampliamente validados para controlar el flagelo de R. microplus y los brotes de enfermedades trasmitidas por este parásito, como también para reducir significativamente la dependencia de acaricidas convencionales en sistemas de producción de bovinos. Los resultados de la estructuración estratégica en contexto del manejo integrado de R. microplus detallan ganancias económicas importantes y consciencia ecológica.
